Straight from the store sizes aren't always the right sizes. You shouldn't have to compromise on anything when it comes to your curtains, not size, not color, not design nor style. Curtains are a huge focal point of any room, and as your little one is starting to see shapes and colors and are able to pick these out more and more, don't settle for second best at all. Create your own custom nursery curtains in just a few simple steps.
Step 1: Measuring
Measure the area that you want your curtains to cover, and add to that figure for pleats and ruffles. The rule of thumb is 2x the area you wish to cover for tape heading curtains, or 1.8x the area for eyelets. Remember to measure from the curtain pole or rail rather than the top of the window, otherwise your curtains may not reach the bottom. If there are already curtains that are a good fit, it might be easier to measure those instead of the window. We'd advise adding an extra centimeter all round the edges for hemming, and shrinkage. Curtains can between 2% and 6%, so adding this now will give your custom kids curtains a longer lease of life.
Step 2: Styling
Choose the type of lining you would like for your bespoke nursery curtains. Blackout lining will make sure that your youngster is in total darkness both at bedtime, and during those daytime naps, whereas no lining may let just enough light through from any street lamps outside that you don't have to switch on a lamp for those middle of the night feeds. Whatever your rationale, there's a wide selection for you to chose from.
Choose whether you want a single curtain or if you'd rather a pair. Enter your sizes in either centimeters, meters, inches or yards. Next chose the hanging style that suits your curtain rail or pole. Select between wire handing, tape heading or 2 different sizes and colors of eyelets.
Step 3: Designing
This is the bit where you can let your imagination run wild. Choose your favorite family snaps, or your son or daughter's favorite storybook, film or TV characters. You can even use a mix of the two. Use one photo, multiple photos, text, a graphic design or any combination. Create a family tree, an alphabet, or even your own storyboard. The possibilities are limitless as to what you can create, so make your custom kids curtains as unique as your bundle of joy.
Your baby room curtains have your personalized design printed on the front, and either an ivory backing or a white blackout backing depending on the style you have chosen. The soft, faux suede material, has a matte finish. Our Suede Vision fabric is smooth has little to no creasing. There isn't any elasticity in the material, which stops your design becoming distorted.
Please note: When you select our fire-rated lining or our blackout lining your curtains will be naturally heavier in weight.
Your design is printed onto the material by our expert technicians using a digital printing technique which bonds the ink permanently to the fibers of the fabric. This deep infusion method uses eco-friendly inks to create a permanent, highly detailed print.
Your curtains are then cut to size by our craftsmen, before being hand stitched by our artisan seamstresses. This is then quality checked before being sent out to you.
There are so many things that you can do to make these custom nursery curtains perfect for you and your little one. We love the idea of creating a montage of a combination of family photos and your child's favorite characters. This brings imagination and reality together in one amazing design.
The Suede Vision fabric used to make your custom nursery curtains has blackout properties. When paired with the blackout lining, no light can pass through the curtains at all. This is ideal to create a dark, sleepy atmosphere during nap time, even on those glorious, bright summer afternoons.
